Precautions For Using Self-Adhesive Bandages

Mar 08, 2026 Leave a message

1. Skin Preparation: Clean and Dry
Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application; a moist environment may reduce adhesion or trigger allergic reactions.

2. Appropriate Tension
Maintain uniform tension while wrapping. Wrapping too tightly can lead to ischemia or nerve compression, while wrapping too loosely renders the bandage ineffective for fixation. It is recommended to check blood circulation every 2–3 hours.

3. Avoid Prolonged Use
Self-adhesive bandages have limited breathability; it is recommended that each application does not exceed 12 hours, as prolonged coverage may trigger skin allergies or infections.

4. Caution with Sensitive Areas
Do not use on sensitive areas such as the eyes or mucous membranes. For open wounds, apply a sterile dressing to cover the wound before bandaging.
